Printers (and the PostScript language used for printing) don’t understand transparency. So if you were to take the example shown above and export it to PDF using one of the two PDF/X PDF presets, Acrobat 4 compatibility is automatically selected, and the PDF is flattened.
As floating objects they aren’t printing due to a preference setting. Go to Word> Preferences> Print , check the box for Drawing objects . That should enable the images for printing to PDF or to paper.

20/03/2018 · Strange thing was I did get multiple warnings about the margins being off, at least three, on all the problem PDF’s I tried a conversion with. Today I used the cleanspl.exe from the server 2003 resource kit to delete all non-essential printer files and all 80 printers from the server.
