Well you need some kind of PDF editor to add data into a PDF. You can copy text or images from other applications but PDFs not meant to be modified easily as its considered “printed paper”.
You can also save MS files (Word etc) as PDF files using the Acrobat buttons and then using that file you can then cut and paste from an Acrobat file into another open one. Hope that helps. I read this thread and had no idea how to do the button you talked about…
